The Association for Socially Responsible Business (ASRB) exists to develop innovative, thoughtful leaders who work beyond themselves—using business as a tool to help shape a better future. We partner with Fortune 500 companies, NGOs, local governments, and startups worldwide on semester-long consulting engagements across sustainability, technology, public policy, and corporate strategy, aiming to address real social and environmental challenges.

Our Mission

Our mission is to empower our members to leverage the potential of business to further social and environmental impact through professional development, education, advocacy, and consulting. We aim to help each member to explore, define, and progress toward the personal social impact they wish to achieve.

Our Guiding Principles

  • Foster a community of interdisciplinary individuals passionate about sustainability and social impact, dedicated to challenging the status quo of business.

  • Develop students to be highly effective in their future career paths and connect them to opportunities, resources, and mentorship

  • Learn about how to mobilize the positive potential of business to create a more responsible, equitable, and sustainable society.

  • Apply our values to hands-on projects that create measurable positive impact through working with campus, clients, and the Bay Area community

How do we leverage the power of business for good

CSR is founded on the belief that businesses can do good: that businesses can do more than just make a profit. CSR is a deeply embedded business strategy that is integrated into all core business objectives and firm processes, designed to create business value and positive social and environmental change.

Instead of focusing only on profit as the bottom line, socially responsible businesses expand their focus to include social and environmental concerns. The bottom line then becomes PEOPLE, PLANET, and PROFIT DRIVEN.

We create shared value by shedding the former path of value creation solely dependent on short-term finances. We create value by investing in the long-term success of business and society. We create value through creating economic and societal value by addressing society's needs and challenges, ranging from sustainability, human capital, to economic distress.
